Nieuw Loretta Lynn album: Wouldn’t It Be Great

 

Op 18 augustus verschijnt Wouldn’t It Be Great, het nieuwe studio album van Loretta Lynn, de ‘Queen of Country Music’. De plaat bevat 13 door Loretta (mede) geschreven songs, waaronder nieuwe composities maar ook soulvolle uitvoeringen van eerder werk uit de indrukwekkende Loretta Lynn catalog.

 

 

 

Net zoals haar voorgaande plaat, de voor een Grammy genomineerde Full Circle (maart 2016), is Wouldn’t It Be Great voornamelijk opgenomen in de Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee, geproduceerd door dochter Patsy Lynn Russell en John Carter Cash – de zoon van Johnny en June Carter Cash.

 

Nieuwe tracks zoals “Ruby’s Stool”, “Ain’t No Time To Go”, “I’m Dying For Someone To Live For” worden afgewisseld met heropnames van recenter werk zoals “God Makes No Mistakes”, wat op haar Grammy Award winnende, door Jack White geproduceerde plaat Van Lear Rose (2004) stond. Ook bekende klassiekers zoals “Coal Miner’s Daughter” en “Don’t Come Home A’Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ On Your Mind)” worden in een nieuw jasje gestoken.

 

Full Circle (2016) behaalde de hoogste positie op de albumlijsten in Groot-Brittannië en was Loretta’s veertigste Top 10 country album. In de Verenigde Staten staat Full Circle te boek als Loretta’s hoogst scorende album in haar meer dan 50 jaar lange carrière. In Nederland behaalde Full Circle de 23e plaats in de album charts. Vorig jaar verscheen ook de prachtige kerstplaat White Christmas Blue.

 

Loretta Lynn vierde op 14 April haar 85e verjaardag.

 

Wouldn’t It Be Great verschijnt 18 augustus 2017 op CD/LP/digital.
